Jaguar Land Rover loses court battle
"Kia Sonet is inspired by India's young and passionate culture and hence, we came up with a strong and sporty design." - Mr. Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Kia Design Center, Kia Motors Corporation
Design
Just look at these pics!
Sonet gets its trademark tiger-nose grille, clamshell bonnet, floating roof rails, a 3D stepwell geometric grille mesh, swept-back headlamps with LED DRLs, flared wheel arches, and much more. Also, the GT Line brings with it some red accents on the grille, a sharper set of 16-inch alloy wheels, red pinstripe along the sides and rear, and GT Line badging. On the inside, you get an obvious all-black interior treatment and contrasting red accents on the seats. The rest is quite visible from the above-shown images. Surely Kia Sonet is 'Wild By Design'.
Engine
As of now, the details regarding the engine aren't disclosed, but it's being speculated that the engine will be provided with options similar to that in Hyundai Venue. The engines offered in Hyundai Venue are -
The 1.2-litre petrol unit produces 82 bhp and 115 Nm of peak torque and is coupled with 5-speed manual gearbox.
The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 119 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque and is coupled with 6-speed manual gearbox or iMT transmission or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 99bhp and 240 Nm of peak torque and is coupled with 6-speed manual transmission only.
But the biggest news coming out is that for the first time Kia will deliver a Diesel Automatic variant in the compact-SUV market. Until today, only Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon provided this option with 6-speed auto transmission.
