Honda Civic Sedan production closed in Japan!

Honda and its iconic Civic brand have been popular across the globe for nearly half a century now. It ruled the roost for quite a while in Japan as well, however as all fairytales come to an end so does this. Honda has officially discontinued its Civic sedan to falling and inconsistent sales. In the last fiscal year, Honda could muster up only 1619 sale receipts of the Civic sedan in Japan. But Honda has planned to keep the sedan on sale outside its domestic markets.

Civic will continue in Japan as a five-door Civic hatchback version and as Civic Type R.

The current tenth generation model was first launched globally in 2016. Honda followed this up with a mid-cycle update in 2018.

The sedan was launched in India in 2019 with both petrol and diesel engine options, after a six-year gap. Honda never launched its 9th generation model in India and thus the last model was the 8th gen launched in 2013. Presently, the Civic sedan is available with a BS6 petrol engine option only. Bookings for the BS6 diesel version have begun recently and it is up for launch soon.

Stay tuned for more upcoming updates on this soon as BS6 updates are due to arrive as well as the price announcement in the next few days.
