The first step of thousand mile journey
The company started from scratch on 29th November 1945 as Bachraj Trading Corporation Private Limited . Initially it didn't manufactured any vehicle , instead imported and sold two and three wheelers from Vespa . It was in 1959 has it get permission from government of India to manufacture two and three wheelers . At the same time , it has also changed its name from Bachraj Trading Corporation Private Limited to Bajaj Auto Private limited. Next year in 1960 it became a public company after which it kick started its business in nine years , produced its 100,000 scooter getting a good footing on the Indian market . Making a name The 70s is one the decade which has brought most surprise for the company. It welcomed the start of decade by starting independent production under its own brand name. It followed with the introduction of chetak scooters as well stretching its sales to international markets including countries like Nigeria, Bangladesh, Australia, Sudan, Bahrain, Hong Kong and Yemen. In 1974 it collaborated with PT. Tunas Bekasi Motor Co. Jakarta and Paijifa Industrial Co. for technical knowhow for manufacture of scooters and 3-wheelers . Along with all that three years later company was able to achieve a huge milestone by selling 1,00,000 vehicles in a single year . Success of early half of the next decade was mainly contributed by the motorcycle of Bajaj M series. The Bajaj M 50 and M 80 had made big name for them with the booking of 1.1 million and 5,00,000 in the first financial year after their launch . While their limelight was stolen by the likes of Kawasaki Bajaj KB 100 , Bajaj Sunny and Bajaj Legend in later part of the 80s . |

Continuing the journey
90s has brought many transformation in India whether it's lifestyle of the people , Bollywood or any other field . The same can be said about Bajaj . Along with the deal with Kawasaki which it made earlier, the company also signed aggressive with Kubota of Japan for the development of diesel engines with enabled the production of diesel engine vehicles auto rickshaw. In the meantime it has launched Kawasaki series motorbikes like Kawasaki Bajaj 45 and has also introduced boxer series as well as CNG re rickshaw. It also started windmill project costing around Rs 9,00 million . After this many ups and downs has been faced by the company which has enabled it on the position it is today . In 2001 the company has the premium bike segment named Pulsar as well as started exporting motorcycle . Some of the models of the segment like pulsar 150 and 180 were the first one to have Digital Twin Spark Ignition ( DTS-i ) technology. It was later on that other model got their hands on it . This was followed by uncountable numbers of new models and segments including Avenger Duke , Platina and a lot more . Because of them the company was able to achieve a feat of a million exports in a single financial year in 2011 . Presently Bajaj auto is the second largest manufacturer of two wheeler in India as well as the largest exporter in the country . Models like pulsar , Avenger and discover has made their name which far exceeds its preceders . The company of 1945 which started its business by selling vehicles of other brand has now many plants across the country and has has sales in more than 50 countries across the globe .

Economical front
The company which was once a part of Bajaj group founded by Jamnalal Bajaj is now leaded by Rahul and Rajiv Bajaj as chairman and CEO respectively . Its headquarter is in Pune, Maharashtra with plants in Chakan (Pune), Waluj (near Aurangabad) and Pantanagar in Uttarakhand. The company is the second largest manufacturer of motorcycles in India after hero and is also the largest manufacturer of three wheelers in the world . As of 2019 it has around 10,000 employees in the company . It exports the products in 50 different countries thereby selling near 30 % of its good in other countries . It has not only produced two wheelers and three wheelers but has also tried its luck in car manufacturing . These were generally mini cars which mainly focused on low cost and greater mileage. A good example of it can be the Bajaj Qute with its mileage of 35 kms/litre . All this has played a role in increasing the revenue to Rs 31,804 crore in year 2019 . The net assets of the company is the astronomical figure of Rs 28, 834 crore with the total equity at Rs 23,233 crore . Even though the pandemic has given setbacks to its sales , given some time , the company would again be able accelerate towards big goals in the future .
