PUBG recently added a new feature in the game which though being loved by the general public was never quite accepted in the competitive matches because it is too much an advantage for the team to receive it. Yes, you've guessed it right. It was the flare gun. It could be shot up as a beacon for loot crates to be dropped at the desired position. Inside the zone, it brought with it two crate weapons and level three armor and helmet which just takes the game in favor of the team. Though shooting it attracts attention from nearby but the position of it being shot is given to the one having it means turning it to own advantage remains a challenge.
Well inside the zone is preferred by most but if the teams happen to have more flare guns than needed it comes with an additional bounty of spawning a mammoth of a vehicle i.e the BRDM-2 if shot outside the safe zone. Unlike other vehicles, the BRDM-2 is way too overpowered, and surprisingly it can be used on water too. And the best part about it is its hitpoint, it would take a lot of ammunition and accurate sprays by assault rifles to take it down to burst and the tires remain invincible at any cost. Though when inside one cannot shoot at a person outside because its fully sealed and it consumes fuel at a much faster rate than other vehicles but those are just for maintaining the balance in the game.

The BRDM isn't just a legend in the game but actual history books it's written in golden letters, its legacy is depicted in every field its ever been used. BRDM stands for Boyevaya Razvedyvatelnaya Dozornaya Mashina which in simple words means combat reconnaissance patrol vehicle. As we already know from the fact that Erangel is a Russian island, this vehicle too was developed by the soviet union and eastern bloc nations. Though by today's standards the armor of this vehicle can be considered less it was way ahead of its time when it was launched.

It was also known under the designations BTR-40PB, BTR-40P-2, and GAZ 41-08. Just like other vehicles this too has been exported to many countries and is still in use in at least 38 such countries. The game has kind of copied the exact copy of the real vehicle as the real one has not only visible resemblance but the disadvantage that one needs to open the hatch of the vehicle to shoot at enemies and that exposed him to enemy fire. Well, what we just discussed was the BRDM-1 which forced the army to upgrade it to the BRDM-2 which is currently in PUBG.

INTRODUCTION

The BRDM-2 has capacity for four people, driver co-driver commander, and one gunner. It was equipped with two chain-driven belly wheels which allowed it to move on trenches and one can adjust the tire pressure while the vehicle is in motion which was to help it adjust to the terrain. The new BRDM was pretty much similar to its predecessor except for the fact that now the engine was protected by enemy fire and there was a separate compartment for the crew. the boat-like hull was necessary for it to float on water.

STRUCTURE

This vehicle specialized in the protection of the people inside, the commander and driver have periscopes for a detailed view of the surroundings. the commander has six TNP-A periscopes, a TPKU-2B day sight, and TKN-1 day sight. The driver has four periscopes of all TNP-A here one can be replaced by TWN-2B night vision device. The crew mounts and unmounts from hatches provided over the driver and commander. There's also a winch provided in front hull 30m cable and 4 tonnes capacity. a spare tire can also be attached on top which was mostly used by the Polish soldiers. And a worthy mention should be that it could travel at 10km/hr in water for almost 17 to 19 hours. Well, this is how this giant was introduced and its adaptations later are what it made a legacy undoubtedly.

INTERESTING FACTS

It was seen being used as a taxi around 2014 in Russia because it could go on any terrain it was painted red and the cost was set to around $89, so yeah ever wondered if you can travel in it, they did it. Because of its huge weight, it was banned from certain roads of Russia but u can sure expect a comfortable inside because if leather seats and not to forget its one of the safest taxis in the world, remember the armor was thick enough to around 0.5 inches.

IN-GAME BRDM

The in-game BRDM-2 consumes a lot of gas and isn't the best choice when taking speed into consideration but sure would take a lot of damage for the passengers to get hurt. It could be the best possible cover when bursts down. But it is often seen that the players chose the weapons from flare gun rather than the vehicle, one simple reason is the fact that people can't really do anything except move around in that and also the value of the vehicle compared to the arsenal to two crate weapons and armor paired with the helmet is just way more to compensate. Even though it is an essential part of the game it isn't used in competitive games and even the flare gun is banned from it. It is a common vehicle in the payload mode of PUBG mobile, the payload mode just makes the battle even more fierce with the helicopter and the semi tank BRDM available as common spawns and their countermeasures like the machine gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher anti-tank missiles and guided missiles available to take the beasts down.

THE LEGACY

BRDM surely is one of the most used military vehicles till date, one can not deny that modern tank does resemble the looks of a BRDM and its variants were used in numerous movies like the famous Die Hard featuring Bruce Willis and is certainly in current use not by the army but the state police departments of many developed nations. It wouldn't be an understatement to say that it was one of the groundbreaking additions to the game.
